【摘要】:ThispartofISO/IEC14776definestheSCSIcommandsetextensionstoaccessmultimediafeaturesforallclassesofSCSIdevices.Thecommandsspecifiedwithinthisstandarddefinestandardaccessandcontrolofthosefeaturesofthedevicethatareusedinmultimediaapplications.TheSPCcommandsetanditsextensionsaretransportindependentandmaybeimplementedacrossawidevarietyofenvironmentsforwhichaSCSIcommandmappinganddeliveryvehiclehasbeendefined.Todate,theseincludeFibreChannel,SCSIParallelInterface,HighPerformanceSerialBus,SerialStorageArchitectureandATA/ATAPI.Thiscommandsetgivesand/orenablesthefollowing.a)Adefinitionofthecommandformatsandfunctionsindependentlyofdelivery,protocol/signallingortransportmechanism.Architecturalconstraintsregardingcommandfunctions,overthevarioustransportsareaddressedinthedocumentspecifictothephysicaltransport.b)StandardizedaccesstocommonFeaturesofSCSIdevicesemployedinmultimediaapplications.c)Systemsoftware/firmwareindependenceacrossdeviceclasses.Thus,differenttapedrives,opticalmediadrivesandotherdevicescanbeaddedtothesystemwithoutrequiringmodificationstogenericsystemhardwareandsoftware.ProvisionismadefortheadditionofspecialFeaturesandfunctionsthroughtheuseofvendor-specificoptions.ReservedOpcodesareprovidedforfuturestandardization.d)ProvidescompatibilitysuchawaythatproperlyconformingISO/IEC9316devicesmayinter-operatewithsubsequentdevicesprovidedthatthesystemengineeringiscorrectlydone.SCSIprotocolextensionsaredesignedtobepermissiveofrejectionsbyconformingISO/IEC9316devicesandthusallowtheISO/IEC9316devicetocontinueoperationwithoutrequiringtheuseoftheextension.
